Frequently asked Questions

What grades do you serve?

We proudly serve students in Kindergarten through Grade 8.

How do I enroll my child in Soaring Heights Charter School?

The first step is to complete the application form which is available online or from the school office. The completed form, together with a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of Jersey City residency, must be returned to the school office. Once the documentation is received, your child will be added to the waitlist. Each January, the school holds a lottery which determines the child’s place on the waitlist for the upcoming school year.

How old does my child have to be to start kindergarten?

Your child needs to be five years old by September 30th of the fall he/she enters kindergarten.

Report cards are distributed four times a year. Prior to the end of each marking period, Progress Reports are sent home to show your child’s progress.

We partner with Jersey City Food Services which allows students to participate in the school’s breakfast and lunch programs at minimal cost based on one’s ability to pay.

To apply for free or reduced cost food, a meal benefit application must be submitted each school year for those interested in participating in this program.

Checks or cash can be used to pay for your child’s breakfast and lunch meals. An order form will be sent home each month and can be sent back to school with payment. Students can turn in payment to their homeroom teacher, or bills can be paid at the school office.

Conditions such as snow and ice may make it necessary to require a delayed opening or a school closure. For the latest information, One Call Now, an automated phone message, is made to families alerting them of the update. The school also posts information on NBC and on the school website.
