Dear Parents and Guardians,
The end of May is approaching quickly, and it is difficult to imagine that Distance Learning has been in practice for the past three months. As you know, Governor Murphy closed schools for the rest of this year and all in-person graduations have been cancelled. Plans for a virtual graduation for our 8th graders are being made. We may have to celebrate apart, but I can assure you we will come together and celebrate. As soon as this plan is finalized you will be notified.
Since we are following the school’s calendar for the remainder of the year, Thursday, May 21st, will be a half-day session with no school on Friday, May 22nd and Monday, May 25th. Distance Learning will resume on Tuesday, May 26th. The last day of school will be Friday, June 12th. There will be half day sessions on June 10th, 11th and 12th. As we learn more about the procedures for the 2020-2021 school year, you will be notified.
The coronavirus pandemic is jeopardizing Soaring Heights Charter School’s budget for the 2020-2021 school year. Soaring Heights was scheduled to receive its first budget increase since 2008, but this is no longer the case due to the pandemic. Yes, that is correct! Remember, Soaring Heights did not receive an increase in revenue for 12 years! With that in mind, I am asking our entire Soaring Heights Community for help. Please sign the attached petition and share it with everyone you know. Please ask your legislators to include charter schools in the School Relief Plan.
